Biography

Originally part of the Heathcote Road Board, the Sumner Town Board was established in 1883, following the Town Districts Act 1881.

The Sumner Town Board became the Sumner Borough Council in 1891 and went on to amalgamate with Christchurch City Council on the 1st April 1945.
