Biography

The Christchurch City Council Abattoir Committee was originally formed in 1898 after a joint committee with Selwyn County Council established the need for a public abattoir. From 1956 the Christchurch City Abattoir was managed by the Canterbury By-Products Limited, via a deed of delegation, for the Christchurch City Council. The relationship came to an end in 1980 when the Christchurch City Council sold the abattoir to Canterbury By-Products Limited.
