Biography
The Parks and Recreation Committee is formed in 1965 from the former Abattoir and Reserves Committee and the Art Gallery Committee. The new committee reported on reserves, parks, cemeteries and recreational facilities such as golf courses, swimming pools and tennis courts owned by the Council. The committee also assumed responsibility for the Robert McDougall Art Gallery.
In 1971 this committee expanded to become the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Committee.
