Biography

Bromley Cemetery was opened in 1918 by the Christchurch City Council. The Council had originally looked at extending the Linwood cemetery or the Waimairi Cemetery. The opening of the new cemetery coincided with the need for burial places for the great number of victims of the influenza epidemic who perished in the last months of that year.
