Christchurch City Council: Handbooks and Directories
Scope and Contents
Annually produced handbooks and directories for Christchurch City Council. Although some of the content differs, in general, handbooks include information about elected members, standing committees and members of these, ratings and financial information for the Council, departmental information, a telephone directory, information about key city buildings and statues and organisational charts showing the structure of the Council at that time. Some years have telephone directories as a separate volume.
The following years are missing from this sequence: 1982, 1984 and 1989. The handbook for 1999 is noticably smaller than those of previous years and reference is made to information on the Council website. It is unclear at what point the handbooks were no longer produced in this format, however it is likely that from 2000 onwards no printed versions were produced.
Also includes An Outline of Local Government In New Zealand by J H Gray General Manager and Town Clerk Christchurch City Council May 1978 and City Health Department Annual Report for the year ended 31 December 1987.
