Minute books of meetings held by Christchurch City Council and committees. These records are an account of the deliberations and resolutions adopted within official meetings. They often detail the everyday concerns of residents or business people, particularly in the early years of Christchurch settlement.

The index cards are subject based and include volume and page references to the main Christchurch City Council minutes and any related committee minute books. They cover 1911-1976. Prior to 1911, the Christchurch City Coucil minute books each contain their own index at the back of the volume. An additional index exists for Christchurch City Council Minute Books between 1977-1988.

Also includes a box of index cards for councillors' attendance at meetings organised by name 1977-1991. This index is not as comprehensive as the earlier indexes and a lot of subjects are not included. Post-1991 there is no index available for the minute books.
