Aldred family papers
The papers of the Aldred family include correspondence, photographs, postcards, press clippings and posters. The majority of this collection are letters, with two written in Māori. Most of the letters are by Arthur Aldred, writing from Tonga to his wife in New Zealand during the course of the First World War.

Alexander Shepherd scrapbooks
The scrapbooks of Alexander Shepherd include newspaper clippings and some programmes. The clippings are mostly about Burwood, New Brighton, Woolston, early and more recent Christchurch.
These scrapbooks were compiled in part by Mr. Shepherd's daughter, Mrs. W.D. Kerr, of New Brighton.
Alexander William Bickerton papers
The papers of Alexander William Bickerton includes booklets written by Professor Bickerton, chiefly on astronomy, 1879-1923. Also correspondence, bibliographies and other papers (1960-1961) gathered by Mr. R.N. O'Reilly, Chief Librarian of Canterbury Public Library, for a planned bibliography of Bickerton's works. Included are two copies of Johannes Andersen's Bickerton bibliography (ca. 1930).

The papers of Alfred Lawrence includes an original handwritten diary and typescript of diary of voyage from Plymouth to New Zealand beginning 5th April 1874. Also includes biographical notes and other correspondence.
Diary was handwritten in a volume titled Letts's diary or bills due book and an almanac for 1872. Includes advertising.

Alfred William Owles papers
The papers of Alfred William Owles includes scrapbooks on New Brighton including newspaper cutting and letters to the Editor, some from Capt. Owles. The scrapbooks also include various items on the America Cup Race in September/October 1901 and miscellaneous items on the New Brighton Tramway, pier murders, courts, elections, entertainment and advertisements.
