Biography
The Cashmere Garden Club was founded in 1940 for the women of Cashmere, and is still in existence today. The first president was Mrs Nellie Gwendoline Mitchell. It is not just a club for gardening but also friendship and community. Since 1966 it has been part of the Red Cross Christmas parcels and they support the Halswell Quarry English Gardens. They also provide flowers to churches and rest homes in the area. The club is a member of the Canterbury Horticultural Society.
