Christchurch City Libraries Archives Collection

 Repository
Parent Institution: Christchurch City Council

About:

He Kohinga Pūranga / Archives collections at Christchurch City Libraries include those of local public services; organisations; businesses; community initiatives; families and individuals.

The collections are available for access via the Wāhi Rangahau / Research Room, on level 2 Tuakiri/Identity at Tūranga.

The collection is in the process of being conserved, re-housed and made accessible following the disruption of the Canterbury earthquakes. Some material may not be available for viewing for some time.

A number of the collections have a finding aid available on the Archive Finding Aids page through Canterbury Stories, the digital heritage repository for Christchurch City Libraries. A large number of items within collections have been digitised as part of the ongoing digitisation programme at Christchurch City Libraries and are available on Canterbury Stories, with a curated selection on the Discovery Wall, a digital touchscreen at Tūranga.
