Biography

The National Service Department existed during the Second World War and was responsible for government regulations regarding military mobilisation and conscription, and control of manpower for essential wartime industries. Conscription was introduced in the National Service Emergency Regulations of 1940. The National Service Department was responsible for recruiting and training men for service overseas.
