Biography

The Christchurch Writers' Association was formed in 1963, with Dame Ngaio Marsh as the first patron of the Association. In 1966 it became the South Island Writers' Association. The aim of the association is to encourage and support writers of all ages and experience.

Records of the South Island Writers' Association including correspondence, minutes, newsletters and award information. Includes a talk, "Attitudes to writing", given by Ngaio Marsh at Writer's School in 1968. Dame Ngaio was patron of the Association from 1963, and there are several letters to and from her amongst the correspondence.
