Biography
This American shipping company was founded by Captain William Matson and based in Hawaii. It started with one three-masted schooner “Emma Claudina” to carry freight and continued to grow and expand as a Pacific passenger and freight service. In 1970 the company decided to concentrate on its Pacific Coast-Hawaii container freight service. Matson, Inc. is a U.S. owned and operated transportation services company headquartered in Honolulu, Hawaii. The company is listed on the NYSE under the ticker symbol “MATX.”
