South Christchurch Tecorians

 Organization

Biography

This was one of four Tecorian clubs in Christchurch. The name was originally International Toastmistresses, a New Zealand club founded in 1974 as part of the American Toastmistresses. At a conference in Aug. 1976 New Zealand clubs decided to start their own, independent clubs. They gave them the name Tecorian, which is an acronym of Teaching Education Communication Oracy.

This club's name became South Christchurch Tecorians. Tecorian speakers teach public speaking and communication skills. The South Christchurch Tecorians was active until until 1989 and stopped operating in 2007 because of lack of members.
