Biography

The Lyttelton Municipal Council controlled the local affairs of Lyttelton Borough from 1861-1867. The Lyttelton Borough Council was inaugurated on 28 May 1868 and replaced the Lyttelton Municipal Council.

In 1989 the Lyttelton Borough Council, Mt Herbert, Wairewa and Akaroa County Councils merged to become Banks Peninsula District Council.

In 2006 the Banks Peninsula District Council merged with Christchurch City Council.
