Biography
The Society was formed in 1947 as the British Psychological Society, New Zealand Branch. In 1967 it became an independent body. Compulsory registration for psychologists was a key issue advocated by the New Zealand Psychological Society. After a long fought 15-year campaign compulsory registration was passed into law in 1983. Aims of the New Zealand Psychological Society as expressed on its website are to support and advocate for the professional needs and interests of its members. Head office is based in Wellington
