Biography

The Abbatoir, Cemeteries and Reserves Committee was formed from the former Abbatoir, Markets and Reserves Committee in 1925. A note in the City of Christchurch Yearbook from 1925-26 states the duties of the committee to be - all matters relating to the Abattoir and with the control and maintenance of Reserves, including extensive tree-planting operations.

Despite the title the management of markets remained in this committee. In 1927 this committee became the Abattoir, Reserves and Milk Committee.
