Biography

Belfast Cemetery opened for burials in 1904 and was at times referred to as the Belfast Public Cemetery. Originally run by trustees of the Belfast Cemetery Board control was delegated to Waimairi County Council by Gazette notice 23 July 1946. Originally a traditional cemetery with large traditional monumental style headstones the cemetery was redeveloped in 1985 as a lawn cemetery.
