Biography
This women's organisation was founded in 1949, as the Soroptimist Club of Christchurch. In 1975 it changed to its present name. It is a service driven organisation whose purpose is to promote human rights, and improve the lives of women and girls worldwide. It is part of a global movement of more than 3000 clubs in 126 countries. The Christchurch branch is involved in providing practical assistance to community groups and individuals through sponsorship and service and charitable projects, both locally and internationally.
