Biography

In 1873 the Provincial Council gave the Waltham Library Committee 200 pounds to establish itself with another 50 pounds for books. A building was constructed in Waltham Road, and the library was opened on the 5th of July 1876. It employed a paid librarian but always had a small number of patrons, and operated more as a working mens club. It closed around the end of May 1970.
