Biography

The New Zealand Foundation for Peace Studies Inc, founded in 1974, is based in Auckland. It published a draft manifesto in February 1974 and received its Certificate of Incorporation on 28th May 1975. A general meeting was held on 15th July 1975 and John Male was voted in as president. In November 1999 the name changed to The Foundation for Peace Studies Aotearoa/New Zealand Incorporated and then in October 2011 the name changed to The Foundation of Peace studies Aotearoa/New Zealand (the Pace Foundation) Incorporated. The council had a vision to build peace-loving societies, whether local or international. They aim to educate people to live harmoniously through their creation of many different resources, programmes and services. These resources are available to families, schools, organisations and communities.

Records include minutes; correspondence; address lists; publications and press clippings. Includes slides and script for the Trident slide show, 1978-1979 and operational records relating to the U.N Year of Peace in 1986.

Dates: 1961-1990
