This group was formed in 1983 to fight the proposed commercialization of the Concert Programme. It wound up in 1988 when its aim was achieved. There was also an Auckland based group, Friends of the Concert Programme, some of whose papers are in folder 1.

Submissions, petition, correspondence, financial and other papers of the Canterbury Friends of the Concert Programme. Folder 1 contains a copy of "A future for non-commercial public radio in New Zealand", by W.G. Hopkins and R. Nola, published by Friends of the Concert Programme, Auckland, in 1983. Also includes submissions to concert programmes, correspondence, newspaper clippings, membership details and financial records.
