Jennings, Jane Minor
Person
Biography
Bellfield School was in Papanui Road. Dates are uncertain, but it seems likely that the school was founded by Charles Jennings, described in the Macdonald index as schoolmaster of the first Papanui school. He died in 1860. His wife, Jane Minor Jennings, née Bell was the owner of the school from about this date. Their daughter Mary Stewart Jennings, later Mrs. Thomas, taught at the school, and their son Charles Edmund Jennings and his wife Marion Alice, née Brown, were possibly also involved with the school.
