Biography

Richard Stanners son of Robert Anderson Stanners and Grace Stanners was a Christchurch plumber. He worked for Frank L. Horne, plumber,from 1925-1931, when the Depression put him out of work. He worked for J. Gadsen & Co. as a solderer in 1932-1933, before obtaining plumbing work again, with the firm of Ayling & King. About ten years later, in 1943, the firm was taken over and he again, through no fault of his own, became unemployed.

The papers of the Stanners family includes original accounts, receipts and references, manuscript and typescript. The receipts in this collection, 1949-1954, are concerned with the cremation of Richard Stanner's father, Robert Anderson Stanners, in 1949, and the estate of Grace Stanners, his mother, in 1954. Also includes references for Richard Stanners who was a Christchurch plumber.
