Biography
Cecil Walter Wood was born in 1878 in Christchurch and trained under leading architects including Samuel Hurst Seager. In 1906, after a period overseas, he entered into a junior partnership with Seager and by 1909 Wood had established his own practice. He designed well known buindings in Christchurch including the Public Trust Office, State Fire and Accident Insurance Office Building and Hereford Street Post Office. He also designed a range of churches in the wider Christchurch area. Key architects who worked in this office over the years included Robert and Margaret Munro, Paul Pascoe and Miles Warren. Wood died in 1947.
