Biography
James McCombs was M.P. for Lyttelton for 20 years. After his death in 1933 his wife Elizabeth, already involved in politics herself, was elected to his seat. She was New Zealand's first woman Member of Parliament. She died in 1935, and their son Terence was elected as Lyttelton M.P. in his turn, a position he held until 1951.
