Biography

Christian Laugesen arrived in Lyttelton with his family in 1873, on the Crusader. They were Danish, and spoke little English. They settled for some years in Oxford, North Canterbury, and about 1890 they moved to Christchurch, where he opened a stationery shop. They moved again frequently in the North and South Islands, from Dunedin to Whangarei. Mr. Laugesen died in Rotorua. During his working life Mr. Laugesen, among other occupations,worked as a sawmiller, in Oxford and other places.
