Biography

Dr. Harry Scotter was born in Dunedin. He studied history at Victoria University, then gained his doctorate at King's College, London. He taught first at Waitaki Boys' High School. From 1955-1961 he taught at Ashburton Technical College. He lectured in history at Canterbury University while researching for A history of Canterbury, of which he wrote volume 3 and two sections of volume 2. He also published Christchurch, Canterbury and North Otago histories.
