Biography
Mr. Hockley was born in Christchurch in 1902. He began motorcyle racing in the early 1920s, becoming a local champion. In those early days motorcycle racing on New Brighton beach was popular. He was a member of the Pioneer Motor Club, originally the Pioneer Motor-Cycle Club, whose history he published in 1963. He also wrote other books and articles about the sport.
