Biography
Pacifist and writer Will Foote was at Christchurch Teachers' College in 1937-1938. He then taught until the War, when as a conscientious objector he was sent to a Defaulters' Detention Camp. At the end of the war in 1945 he worked as a labourer, studying for his Diploma of Education in the evenings. In 1949 he was allowed to resume his teaching career. In 1977 he retired to Nelson, joining peace groups there.
