Biography
Ola Larson was born in Sweden, where he trained and worked as a gardener, becoming a landscape gardener on his own account. In 1874 he came to New Zealand with his wife and family. He worked first at Little Akaloa then moved to Christchurch, where he worked as a nurseryman and as a gardener. He became a Mormon, and was ordained in 1879. He took up basket weaving, making furniture, prams, etc., opening a shop in Christchurch. In 1885 he and his family left for Utah.
