Biography
Cecil Cochrane, from Belfast in Northern Ireland, emigrated to New Zealand in 1958. He arrived in Wellington on the Rangitata, then sailed on the Maori to Christchurch.

Scope and Contents
Printed and manuscript papers of Cecil Cochrane, largely relating to emigration. Includes passenger list, luggage labels, and various official and personal papers, including a Welcome to New Zealand letter from the Dept. of Labour's Immigration Division.
Also includes one black and white portrait photograph of the crew of the Rangitata and a 1978 postcard from Mr. Cochrane in Belfast to his wife in Christchurch. This postcard is mostly about his mother's bad health.
