Biography
Keith Baker served in the Salvation Army's Christchurch City Corps from 1947-1950. He set up a footpath headquarters opposite the site of the Ballantyne's fire. From here he and helpers dispensed tea and refreshments to the firemen and to others affected by the fire, and later helped in other ways.

Photocopy of typescript of Keith E. Baker's account of his time in the Christchurch City Corps of the Salvation Army, 1947-1950, which included helping at the Ballantyne's fire.
Also includes copies of a 1983 letter from Colonel Baker to Bramwell Cook, and a 1997 explanatory letter from Dr. Cook.
