Biography

Edwin Barnett was born in Geraldine in 1882. He had two sisters, Amy and Evelyn (Eva). By 1905 he was married to Ethel Annie, living at 18, Conference Street, Christchurch, and working as a lamplighter. He fought in France in the Great War, in the New Zealand Engineers Tunnelling Company. He had signed up in 1915 and returned to New Zealand in 1918. He then worked as a Forest Ranger in Eyrewell Plantation, Rangiora.
