Biography
Captain Thomas White was born in Massachusetts. Originally a whaler, then a sawyer, he settled first in Port Levy, then in Pigeon Bay. In February 1846 he married Piraurau in Port Levy. Mrs. White is also named as Sarah Piraurau. They had two daughters, Almirah (b. 1849) who married Andres Knudsen and Sarah who married William Innes and a son, Thomas, was born in 1856.

Scope and Contents
The papers of the White family includes one photograph of the White family outside their Pigeon Bay cottage including Captain Thomas White, his wife Piraurau, daughters Sarah and Almirah, son George, and William Innes, who married Sarah, ca. 1864. Also includes copies of relevant church register transcripts.
