Biography

Frank Wild was a British explorer of Antarctica born in Yorkshire 1874. In 1901 he was a part of Scott's Antarctic expedition aboard the Discovery. He joined Ernest Shackleton on four expeditions between 1907 and 1922. His younger brother Ernest Wild was also an Antarctic explorer.

He married the widowed Mrs Granville Altman in 1922 and took up cotton-growing in South Africa. This venture ended in failure after successive droughts and he became a barman at a hotel in Gollel in 1929. Frank died of Pneumonia in Klerksdorp, South Africa in 1939.
