Adolf Brand was a German writer and activist born 14 November 1874 and died 2 February 1945. He was among pioneering campaigners for homosexual rights and was for a time connected to Magnus Hirschfeld's Scientific - Humanitarian Committee, known as the first public homosexual rights organization. The Scientific - Humanitarian Committee split in 1903 with Brand leaving to form the Gemeinschaft der Eigenen organisation which rejected scientific theories of homosexuality and focused on acceptance of relationships between older and younger men following the ideals of Pederasty in Ancient Greece.
