Thomson, Peter

In Scotland Peter Thomson was a proof-reader for the Edinburgh Times. He came to New Zealand with his wife Elizabeth, his daughter Sarah, and two sons, David and Murray. About two years after their arrival in New Zealand Elizabeth Thomson died. She was consumptive and had been very ill on the voyage out, as this diary records. In 1864 Peter Thomson married Mary McNair. At some stage he moved to Dunedin, where he was a proof reader for the Otago Daily Times.
