Biography
In 1868 Robert Dawber came to New Zealand with his eldest son James, aged sixteen. He bought land at German Bay (now Takamatua), and returned to England to fetch the rest of his family. In 1881 the family moved to Christchurch, and in 1890 they sold their land on the Peninsula.
