Biography
John Morris was the eldest son of Peter and Ellen Morris of Co. Tyrone, Ireland. He arrived in Lyttelton aboard the Matoaka on 10 February 1862. His parents arrived at Moreton Bay, Brisbane 18 months later. John married Anne Jane Irwin from County Armagh, Ireland, at the Parish Church, Kaiapoi on 5 September 1864. They settled near Woodend, North Canterbury. Their children were Lillie May, Oliver Clive, Annie, Thomas, Frederick William, Priscilla Amy, Ivy Jane, Rosina Margaret and Norah. Clive Morriss is the son of Frederick.
