Biography

Helen Gertrude Foder was born in Kensington, London. She came to New Zealand with her mother Georgina Fodor about 1880 and was educated at Otago Girls' High School. Her first marriage to Charles Edward Cross ended in divorice. She later married George Dean Greenwood, pastoralist, breeder of Correidale sheep and successful race horse owner in Teviotdale, North Canterbury. She wrote several books including Spoken French, Gloaming the wonder horse, and The splendid horizon.
