Scope and Contents

Photocopies of newspaper articles from The Christchurch Star-Sun relating to the opening of Millers Ltd on Tuam Street. Includes those also relating to the wider social context, most notably the Second World War, in which the store was opening in Christchurch. Many of the copies have handwritten annotations on the reverse or typescript captions attached indicating that these were originally created as part of an exhibition.

Includes a photocopy of an extensive Christchurch Star-Sun Supplement from 18 February 1939 marking the opening of the Millers store on Tuam Street.

Also includes a typescript timeline marking key global historical events from 1924 - 1965 some of which are noted as part of the exhibition captions on the newspaper article copies.
