Unclassified series or group of series comprising copies of inwards and outwards correspondence. The miscellaneous correspondence was presumably originally stored chronologically in alphabetical order. At some point the letters were pulled out of the current system and bundled in groups. Some of the bundles have been weeded by ANZC staff, retaining all genealogical and other reference letters, letters relating to the library, its staff, and equipment and operaton. As well as 'miscellaneous' correspondence, this series also includes files of correspondence with other institutions as well as a number of 'reference department' files dealing with public queries. These could just as appropriately be serialised with similar records in Series 1 and Series 3 respectively. A blanket restriction of 100 years has been placed on all items in the series.
