Scope and Contents

The papers compiled by James Caffin includes books, periodicals, correspondence, programmes, publicity, newspaper clippings and photographs. The books include Robin Bromby's The last great air race, 1982, and Henrik Scholte's We flew to Christchurch, 1954.

Includes minutes, correspondence and other papers of the Canterbury International Air Race Council, of which Hume D. Christie was the chairman and James Caffin the chairman of the publicity committee. Includes two copies of the programme for the dedication of the Christchurch International Airport, 18th December 1950, and an annotated map of the race route.
