Scope and Contents

The records of the Christchurch Unemployment Committee includes correspondence; reports on relief work; minutes; press clippings and financial records.

All but the final 5 papers are dated between 1928-1929. These 5 papers, 15 Jan. 1936, list men employed on relief work on the Lewis Pass road, at Arthur's Pass, at the Conway River, at the Bealey Works, and at Governor's Bay.

Includes subscription list, "Subscriptions are urgently needed to provide USEFUL WORK for those out of employment during the winter months".

Press clippings are pasted on the back of Canterbury Progress League letterheads.
