A Mayor’s Welfare Fund was established in 1897. In 1934 the name of the Citizen’s Relief of Distress Fund. Ladies’ Auxiliary was changed to the Mayor's Relief Fund. Women's Auxiliary. This Fund may also have been known as the Business Men's Relief Association.
