Memorandum of agreement between John Robert Godley as Agent for and on behalf of the Canterbury Association for founding a settlement in New Zealand, and [name to be filled in] the-- day of 185-- / Canterbury Association (London, England).
A printed form, to be completed by hand, for the use of the New Zealand Company to sign up new settlers to lease unsold land until it was required by the Canterbury Association.

Biographical / Historical
Existence: 1859 - 1993 The Canterbury Chamber of Commerce was instituted in 1859. In 1990 it changed its name to Chamber of Commerce & International Trade (Canterbury). On 1 April 1993 the Chamber of Commerce & International Trade (Canterbury) merged with Canterbury Employers' Association to become Canterbury Employers' Chamber of Commerce.
Biographical / Historical
Existence: March 1848 - 1855 Established in March 1848 by Edward Gibbon Wakefield and John Robert Godley. Was set up to establish an English settlement in Canterbury NZ. The Canterbury Association launched an immigration scheme which brought workers with specific skills to the settlement from the United Kingdom. The Canterbury Association was dissolved in 1855.
