Scope and Contents
Titled Reminiscences: early Christchurch and Canterbury, these three addresses were delivered by Robert Allan, Andrew Anderson and Arthur Dudley Dobson to Rotary Club members in 1922. The focus of the talks is on early Christchurch and Canterbury and the development of the settlement in the nineteenth century. Includes foreword, and comments and questions from attendees.
Allan covers the very early Christchurch settlers and the beginnings of the city; Anderson covers from the first four ships onwards; Dobson recounts his survey of the West Coast, approx. 2,000 sq. miles.
