Scope and Contents

The World War I memorabilia of Mark Oswald Norris includes journals, a menu card, order of service and extracts from an address.

The journals are The Tahiti times, troopship no. 4, 1914, and, The Masseydonian stretcher : the official monthly journal of the No. 1 New Zealand Stationary Hospital, Cairo, May 1916. The menu card is for Christmas dinner at Shepheard's Hotel, Cairo, 1914. This card has been autographed by O.M. Norris and other soldiers.

The order of service is for a Gallipoli memorial service in Christchurch Cathedral, Anzac Day, 1916, being the first annual commemoration of that campaign. The extracts from an address, by J. Wyn Irwin, are about the Bridge of Remembrance, the Christchurch War Memorial, on Armistice Day, November 11, 1924.
