 Collection
Identifier: CCL Archive 0455

Scope and Contents

Copy of typescript transcript of an original diary titled Jottings on the spot: Being the diary of a Mr. F. R. Rives Jnr. S.F., An emigrant to New Zealand.

The first entry is headed Trolove's Station, a sheep farm near Kaikoura where Mr. Rives is working. He also visits Swyncombe and Mount Fyffe, neighbouring stations, and other places, and rides to Christchurch, where he describes, among other things, a visit to the Museum. Mr. Rives seems to be an American, but details are sketchy.
