 Collection
Identifier: CCL Archive 0608

Scope and Contents

Original manuscript, with a 1960 letter, and photocopies of reminiscences of Mr Salt relating to Rakaia and Ashburton.

The identity of Mr. Salt is unknown. His reminiscences refer mostly to the 1860s, but it is not clear when they were written. In 1960 The Ashburton Guardian sent Salt's papers to Dr. Scotter for possible use in his 1972 book, Ashburton: a history with records of town and county.
